My name is Matty Holmes. I was born in Luton, Bedfordshire on 1st August 1969. Since the age of fifteen I have been a professional footballer with AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United, Blackburn Rovers and Charlton Athletic, retiring at the age of thirty due to a bad injury. In June 2002 I gained my F.A. Coaching Badge to become a qualified football coach and in February 2008 i gained my Level 3 coaching certificate. In June 2002 i set up my own football coaching club ‘Matty Holmes Football Coaching’. Matty Holmes Football Coaching now has over one hundred boys and girls in the Dorset and Hampshire area. I do not employ any other football coaches for my after school football clubs, apart from the services of my brother Danny, and so therefore the children’s time is monopolised by myself. Additionally, the groups do not have more than fourteen children to maintain the quality of football coaching. My brother Danny has a wealth of experiance. His services to my coaching club are very important as he has been a professional footballer with Middlsborough and AfcBournemouth and played for top non-league clubs Farnborough,Aldershot and Salisbury. He gained his level2 F A Coaching badge in 2006 and is also Head U12 Coach at AfcBournemouth Centre of Excellence. Matty Holmes Football Coaching in the last 3 years has provided Southampton Academy and more recently AfcBournemouth Centre of Excellence with young local talented players for their main squads, and development squads. With my Involvement as Head Coach of the Under 7s to Under 12s at AfcBournemouth Centre of Excellence, which i was appointed in July 2006, we are able to move our more talented youngsters into a professional set up. My main objective is to develop the local children in a fun-learning environment and to teach them how to play our great game in the way I believe it should be played. I concentrate on control, passing and skill and once these techniques are mastered the children attain a confidence and belief in their football. Finally, I also run Soccer Schools in the Easter, May and Summer School Holidays that run for two consecutive days. The soccer schools have always been successful with only a limited 54 places. Local coaches that have at least Level 2 Coaching Certificates are hired in my soccer schools during the holidays. |
